Georgians are fortunate to have some of the lowest gas prices in the country. According to AAA, Citizens in Walker, Dade and Catoosa Counties are in one of the least expensive metro area gas markets in the state. We are paying on average 1 dollar a gallon less in unleaded gas than we did a year ago.
On average, the state of Georgia is paying 7-cents a gallon less than we did a year ago at the pump. However, keep an eye on it as higher crude oil prices have slightly inflated causing gas prices to slowly rise. Fortunately, our area is only seeing a slight increase of .01 a gallon since January 1, 2025.
How can you save even more at the pump?
- Shop around. There are gas pricing apps out there and it pays to shop around for the lowest price per gallon.
- If you have cash in your pocket consider paying cash instead of credit. It can save a lot!
- There are many fuel savings programs where you can get money knocked off your total at the pump.
Want to save some fuel?
- Take it slow! You may feel like you drive at a turtle’s pace, but you will save so much fuel by not driving aggressively or speeding. (Not to mention fines and fees you may be “awarded” for doing the aforementioned.)
- Maintain your vehicle. Forgetting those tire rotations or oil changes can really take a toll on fuel consumption and hit you harder in the pocket if you let your vehicle go.
- Combine errands and take a friend along-share a ride. Ride sharing helps save so much fuel and also cuts back on emissions. Remember, cut the fuel, Carpool!
