The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday evening in Catoosa County involving officers from the East Ridge Police Department in Tennessee. No injuries were reported.

According to preliminary information released by authorities, the incident began around 5:30 p.m. on December 14, 2025, when East Ridge police attempted to stop a stolen SUV crossover in East Ridge, Tennessee. The vehicle fled the scene and crossed into Georgia.

The pursuit ended when the SUV stopped in the parking lot of a Circle K gas station on Lafayette Road in Rossville. Officers reported seeing two or three occupants inside the vehicle and issued commands for them to exit. Authorities say the occupants refused to comply and drove away, continuing the pursuit.

During the incident, one officer fired at the fleeing vehicle. No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire. The occupants of the SUV have not yet been identified.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered at a different location in Rossville on December 16.

The GBI is handling the investigation independently and will submit its findings to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office once the investigation is complete.
