Georgia DDS Warns of Phishing Text Scam

The Georgia Department of Driver Services is warning residents about a phishing scam involving fake text messages claiming to be from state agencies.

Officials say the messages falsely request payment for tickets or threaten license suspension. The agency stresses that these messages are not from the Georgia Department of Driver Services and are part of a scam designed to steal personal information.

DDS officials say they will never contact individuals by text message asking for payment or personal details.

Residents are advised not to click on any links included in suspicious text messages.

Anyone wanting to check the status of their driver’s license or any DDS-related issue should do so directly through the official DDS website at dds.drives.ga.gov.

Authorities encourage residents to remain alert and protect their personal information from potential scammers.
