This is such an exciting year and we are looking forward to an amazing GRADUATION ceremony held on JEFF SUTTLE field under the Friday Night lights of JACK KING STADIUM tomorrow night for the Class of 2024. Regardless of weather – LHS will be providing a LIVE FEED for the Graduation ceremony can be viewed on the LHS YES WE CAN FBOOK PAGE. We will go live @ 7:50ish. We want anyone who wants to see the ceremony have access to view it.GATES for BOTH SIDES of the BLEACHERS WILL OPEN at 5:45PM –Based on child’s last name – A-K will be seated on HOME side and L- Z on the visitor side.This way you can see your child process in and receive their diploma facing YOUR bleachers.Parking is all over campus and we have a parking CREW that is going to try and assist so no one gets stuck in our grass if it rains. Handicap parking is available in the LOWER lot – but have a valid car tag or a hanging rear view mirror sign displayed.Holding May graduation ceremonies outside on any football field always brings about certain challenges, especially with the change for afternoon storms. Please know Mr. Raines and I are closely monitoring the weather and will make every efforts to keep the plan of hosting the graduation ceremony ON THE FIELD so everyone can enjoy the celebration.In our efforts to be proactive – on Wednesday, May 22 at the mandatory graduation practice each graduate, in attendance for practice, was given an envelope with their allotted 4 graduation tickets in the event, at the last minute, we have to move it inside due to severe weather (severe thunderstorms/lighting). Due to the fire marshal capacity of what the gym can hold – only graduation ticket holders will be physically allowed in school/gym for the ceremony.If all else fails ….and we under severe thunderstorm / lightening weather – not just rain.Back up plan – we move our graduation ceremony into Dan Priest Arena (main gym)–
Friday, May 24 @ 8:00PM (same date/ time) graduates will move onto floorLIVE GRADUATION FEED on LHS GRADS YES WE CAN FBOOK pageA school cast call will be prepped and ready to go out – to announce that we are in gym / so only the 4 required tickets per graduate will be allowed inside the gym (due to fire marshal capacity of gym)GYM entrance will be monitored and controlled by LHS staff (those at gates) and then also City police officers.Auditorium / Cafeteria will be open for viewing, if that is necessary as an overflow. People can view for inside classroom if we need to add that aspect – I will bring my large rolling ViewSonic boards into Cafeteria for better viewing opportunities.Reminder parents – Yesterday at GRADUATION Practice – 4 tickets were given to all graduates at our mandatory practice (only have 4 envelopes remaining that were not picked up) – we will not reissue any tickets, if they are lost, misplaced, so please ask your child for this envelope.WCS will wait until the last possible moment to move anything inside – We will continue to monitor the weather all day long and provide necessary updates as need. .We are ALL praying for NO RAIN OUT at GRADUATIONGraduation – Friday, May 24th – Be in PitCrew by 6:45 – wearing cap & gown
Graduation starts promptly at 8:00 P.M. in the stadium.
Last names A-K will be seated on the home side of the stadium.
Last Names L-Z will be seated on the visitor side of the stadium.
Reminder -In the event of inclement weather, graduation will be moved to the LaFayette High School gymnasium Friday evening and only 4 guests (orange tickets) per graduate will be allowed into the gym.
Graduation Dress:
Ladies: Wear a dress that does not show above the “V” in the gown and dress shoes (low heels preferred since you will be walker across the field). No collars on gowns.
Men: Wear dark pants or khakis (No jeans or shorts), dress shirts with ties, socks and dress shoes.
Decorations on caps must be one dimensional. This means everything attached must be flat – use paper or paint. All stoles and cords must be earned and affiliated with an official LHS organization.
