LaFayette, GA — At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Jennifer Ramey Cook was officially appointed to fill the Ward 2 seat recently vacated by former Councilman Anthony Underwood, who resigned before his term was set to expire at the end of 2025.
The City Council expressed gratitude for Underwood’s dedicated service and contributions during his tenure. Due to the short remaining time on his term, city charter provisions required the council to appoint a replacement to serve until the upcoming election.
Councilwoman Cook, a lifelong resident of Ward 2, will serve the remainder of Underwood’s term, with the seat scheduled for election this November.
A graduate of LaFayette High School, Cook has deep roots in the community, having lived on the same street her entire life. She previously operated Sew Cute!, a boutique on the square originally founded by her parents, before stepping away to allow them to enjoy retirement.
Professionally, Cook brings over 14 years of leadership experience as a practice manager at a local dental office, a role that has provided her with valuable operational expertise and the flexibility to engage in public service.
Proud of LaFayette’s recent revitalization, Councilwoman Cook is eager to contribute to ongoing progress and emphasizes her commitment to being accessible and responsive to residents.
