JJ Lewis has officially announced his candidacy for Walker County Commissioner, District 1, outlining a campaign platform focused on excellence, economic growth, and education, according to a release published by The Chattanoogan.com.
Lewis’ campaign emphasizes modernizing county government, fostering a stable local economy, and strengthening partnerships between government, schools, and employers. Key priorities include transparent and accountable governance, infrastructure investment, business development, and coordinated workforce and youth programs.
The campaign also highlights plans to pursue a forensic audit of county operations, reduce the county property tax burden on city residents, and advance infrastructure projects to support growth and revitalization in Rossville and across Walker County.
Campaign officials describe Lewis as a fiscal conservative with decades of experience in economic development, public policy, legislation, and government operations. His platform underscores pro-life principles, support for lower taxes, smaller and more effective government, free-market opportunity, and strong defense of Second Amendment rights.
Lewis, a Rossville resident, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Tennessee Temple University and is active in his church and community. He and his wife, Tracy, have four children, two of whom attend public schools in Walker County.
As part of his campaign, Lewis will host a series of District 1 listening sessions in the coming weeks to gather input from residents and engage directly with the community.
