LaFayette High School’s softball program had a big night on Thursday, notching wins at both the varsity and junior varsity levels against Gilmer.
The varsity Lady Ramblers powered past Gilmer with an impressive 8-2 victory. Leading the offensive charge was Addi Hogue, who went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in another. Jocelyn McCallie also turned in a strong performance, going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs of her own.
Bralie Blevins contributed a key hit, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Emma House added a run and an RBI on a 1-for-4 night. Harley Perkins chipped in with a hit and a run.
In the circle, Marlie Day was dominant, pitching six solid innings and issuing just two walks. Hogue closed things out with a scoreless inning of relief to seal the win.
The JV squad also found success, picking up a 4-2 win over Gilmer. Rylan Stephenson led the way, pitching four innings with only one walk, while also helping her cause at the plate with a 1-for-2 outing and an RBI.
Abigail Rowlls, Lillian Nixon, Ella Eppley, and Ashlynn Dotts each collected hits to help secure the win.
Both teams return to action Tuesday at Ringgold, with varsity scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. and JV to follow.
