LaFayette American Legion Post 339 is having a Women Veterans Recognition Day on June 10th from 6:00PM – 7:00PM at our post. 209 S. Chattanooga Street, LaFayette. Mayor Andy Arnold will issue a proclamation and Ramona Roper from the Georgia Department of Veterans Services will speak. For Love or Money will sing a few songs and our Post will have a meal. LaFayette American Legion Post 339 would love to have our local women veterans attend so we can recognize them. It is open to anyone that would like to attend. This isn’t a separate veteran’s day for women, just to recognize when President Truman June 12, 1948, signed into law the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act allowing women to serve as regular members of the military along side men.
