The varsity baseball team at LaFayette High School improved to 4–0 on the season Tuesday night with a 6–4 victory over North Murray High School.
Austin Dearing turned in a strong performance on the mound, allowing just one earned run while striking out 11 batters. He also contributed at the plate, going 1-for-3 and scoring a run.
Brady Wilson led LaFayette’s offense with a perfect 3-for-3 night, scoring once and driving in a run. Kort Brown added two hits in four at-bats, scoring twice and collecting an RBI.
In junior varsity action, LaFayette opened its season with a 9–4 win over North Murray. Ethan Bailey allowed only two hits on the mound to earn the victory.
Eli Simpson paced the JV offense, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Colton Ware finished 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
Both teams are scheduled to return to action today on the road against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, with the varsity game set for 5 p.m. and the JV game to follow.
