Walker County Celebrates National Public Works Week

LaFayette, GA — This week marks National Public Works Week, and Walker County officials are taking the opportunity to thank the dedicated men and women who keep essential services running behind the scenes.

Public works crews in the county are responsible for maintaining roads, culverts, drainage ditches, rights-of-way, and county-owned properties—tasks that often go unnoticed by the public.

“Many times, these crews never meet the people whose lives they impact,” a county spokesperson said in a social media post. “But their work quietly improves the quality of life for everyone, day in and day out.”

As residents travel smoothly down local roads or avoid flooding after a heavy rain, they may not realize the critical role public works plays. This week, the county encourages everyone to recognize the value and dedication of these unsung heroes.
