The LaFayette High School girls basketball program picked up a pair of victories against Dade County, with both the varsity and junior varsity teams coming away with wins.
The varsity squad earned a 43–30 victory despite battling significant foul trouble throughout the game. Strong defensive play helped preserve the lead, while several standout performances fueled the win. Sophomore Erin Grant led the Ramblers with a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Sophomore Ava Kelley added 12 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Senior Tamra Yancy also delivered a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
The JV girls opened their season with a win as well, defeating Dade County behind a solid team effort. Sophomore Breezy White led the scoring with 10 points. Freshman Payton Mast contributed 6 points and 8 rebounds, and fellow freshman Brilee Wilson added 4 points and 10 rebounds.
LaFayette returns to action Friday as they host Southeast Whitfield at home.
