While Tuesday, March 18, was the official Special Called Election Day, Walker County’s Board of Elections went over and beyond to ensure voters had a chance to cast their ballots. Early voting started every weekday, two weeks prior to the election, with Saturday voting also offered to citizens. A small amount of mail in ballots or absentee ballots were received. Nevertheless, less than 4% of registered voters in Walker County ended up voting on whether or not to continue an Education Tax that would benefit the county school system. In addition to the Education (ESPLOST), who would fill the empty seat of Ward 1 for the City of LaFayette Council was also being decided.
