ATLANTA — Georgia State Representative Mike Cameron has joined fellow lawmakers in co-sponsoring a resolution reaffirming Georgia’s strong support for the United States and Israel. The resolution commends President Donald J. Trump’s leadership in defending American interests, confronting global terrorism, and supporting democratic allies in the face of growing threats.

The measure highlights the administration’s commitment to national security, particularly in confronting the Islamic Republic of Iran—recognized as the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. It underscores Georgia’s support for a foreign policy rooted in strength and deterrence, aimed at preserving global stability and defending American and Israeli lives.

The resolution draws attention to the January 2024 drone attack by Iranian-backed forces on Tower 22 in Jordan, which resulted in the deaths of three United States Army Reserve soldiers from Georgia: Staff Sgt. William Rivers of Carrollton, Spc. Kennedy Sanders of Waycross, and Spc. Breonna Moffett of Savannah. The resolution also honors Sgt. Rose Lubin, a native of Atlanta and member of Israel’s Border Police, who was killed during a terror attack in Jerusalem in late 2023.

It acknowledges the suffering of Georgia families affected by the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel—an act of terrorism that killed over 1,200 civilians, including at least 30 Americans. Lawmakers expressed solidarity with those impacted and emphasized the importance of standing with Israel in confronting Iranian-backed aggression.

The resolution supports recent joint U.S.-Israeli operations aimed at countering Iran’s nuclear ambitions and combating terror groups operating across the Middle East. It calls these actions necessary to prevent the development and deployment of weapons that pose an existential threat to both American and Israeli citizens.

In addition to honoring military service members, the resolution recognizes Georgians working in cybersecurity, defense technology, aerospace, and intelligence. These professionals play a vital role in supporting the missions of the U.S. military, Department of Defense, U.S. Cyber Command, and the Israel Defense Forces.

The resolution outlines several key points:

  • Commends President Donald J. Trump for his leadership in confronting Iran and upholding national security;

  • Honors the lives and sacrifices of Georgia’s fallen service members;

  • Expresses full support for the U.S.-Israel alliance and joint efforts to eliminate threats posed by Iranian-backed terrorist groups;

  • Condemns Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Quds Force, and affiliated terrorist organizations including Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Kataib Hezbollah;

  • Reaffirms Georgia’s dedication to promoting peace through strength;

  • Acknowledges the courage and commitment of Georgians serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and Israel Defense Forces;

  • Recognizes the important contributions of Georgians working in fields that support military and homeland security efforts.

The resolution sends a unified message from Georgia’s legislative leaders: the state stands firmly with the United States, with Israel, and against terrorism and state-sponsored violence that threaten global peace and democratic values.
