Mountain View Subdivision Paving is Underway

Talley Construction, the company awarded the 2024 paving contract, recently started work on the county’s lengthy resurfacing list. The project consists of roughly 50-miles of roads, including the entire Mountain View subdivision, which hasn’t been paved in nearly 40 years.

“We are going to put yellow lines in this subdivision,” said Carlen Bowers, Road Superintendent. “There will be stop bars at all the stop signs. That will come later on from a subcontractor.”

There are a lot of logistics involved in where Talley will head next after Mountain View. “How many trucks they can get their hands on, which roads are close by to try to cut down on the mobilization,” Bowers explained. “The shorter the road, the less trucks. The longer the road, the more trucks. The further away from the asphalt plant, the more trucks you need. So that plays a big part in where to go next.”

It could be close to the end of the year before all of the roads approved for maintenance in 2024 receive attention. The entire 2024 road paving list is available to review at: https://walkercountyga.gov/tsplost/
