Voters in LaFayette, Chickamauga, and Rossville will head to the polls on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to cast ballots in municipal general elections—and in some cities, special elections as well.
LaFayette Election Details
LaFayette residents will vote at the LaFayette Senior Center, located at 636 S. Main St., from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Qualifying for candidates will take place at LaFayette City Hall (207 S. Duke St.) from Monday, August 18 to Wednesday, August 20, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day. The positions open for election and their qualifying fees are:
Mayor – $126.00
Municipal Judge – $108.00
Councilmember, Ward 1 – $108.00
Councilmember, Ward 2 – $108.00
Early voting will be held at the Walker County Courthouse Elections Office (103 S. Duke St., LaFayette), beginning October 14 and continuing through October 31, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday voting will be held on October 18 and October 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chickamauga Election and Special Referendum
The City of Chickamauga will also hold a municipal general election and a special election on November 4. Voting will take place at the Chickamauga Civic Center, 1817 Lee Clarkson Rd., from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Qualifying for office will be held at Chickamauga City Hall (103 Crittenden Ave.) from August 18–20, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, with a lunch break from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Open positions and qualifying fees include:
City Council (3 seats) – $64.00
School Board (3 seats) – $18.00
Early voting will also be held at the Chickamauga Civic Center, running from October 14 to October 31, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday voting will be available on October 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Special Election Questions for Chickamauga Voters
In addition to electing officials, Chickamauga voters will weigh in on two special referendum questions:
Education Tax Exemption for Seniors
Voters will decide whether to approve a homestead exemption from City of Chickamauga independent school district ad valorem taxes:$50,000 exemption for residents 70 years or older
Full exemption for residents 75 years or older
Municipal Tax Exemption for Long-Term Residents
Voters will also decide whether to approve a $50,000 homestead exemption from municipal ad valorem taxes for residents 70 years or older who have lived in the city for at least five years.
Rossville General and Special Election
Rossville will hold a general and special election on November 4 at the Rossville Municipal Civic Center, located at 400 McFarland Ave. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Candidate qualifying will take place at Rossville City Hall (also at 400 McFarland Ave.) from August 18 through August 20, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Open positions include:
Mayor (Special Election to fill unexpired term of Hal Gray) – $750.00
Two City Council seats – $90.00 each
Early voting will be held at the Rossville Civic Center from October 14 through October 31, with weekday voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday voting on October 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Key Dates and Voter Information
Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, October 6, 2025 – This is the last day to register to vote in any of these elections.
Absentee Ballots: To request an absentee ballot by mail, contact the Walker County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-638-4349. The deadline to request a ballot is Friday, October 24, 2025.
