The Chickamauga City Council will hold a public hearing on Friday at 6 p.m. at 1817 Lee Clarkson Road to consider three proposed ordinances affecting alcohol regulations, the creation of a special service district, and political campaign access to residential properties.
The first proposal would amend Chapter 4 of the city’s Code of Ordinances governing alcoholic beverages. The update would revise definitions and license classifications, add new license types for pub-style establishments and cigar lounges, allow humidors in package stores, and clarify distance requirements relating to alcohol sales. The ordinance would not change existing excise tax rates or distributor remittances.
The second ordinance would establish the Crystal Springs Special Service and Taxing District. The measure would authorize the city to levy a special millage or service charge within the district to fund designated public purposes and outlines administrative procedures and a defined term for the district.
The third ordinance addresses political campaign access to multi-family and gated residential properties. It is intended to ensure reasonable access for candidates while protecting the rights of voters, and it includes provisions for enforcement.
The public is invited to attend Friday’s hearing and provide comments before the council considers further action on the ordinances.
