The Chickamauga City Council and the Chickamauga City Schools Board of Education (BOE) have scheduled a series of public hearings to discuss the city’s general fund millage rate and the proposed school millage rate for the upcoming fiscal year.
Under the City Charter, the Mayor and City Council serve as the levying authority and are responsible for setting the final millage rates. While the Board of Education develops the proposed school millage rate, the City Council holds public hearings and ultimately votes to adopt the rate.
City Council Hearings (covering both the City’s General Fund millage and the BOE’s proposed school millage) will be held at the Chickamauga Civic Center on:
Thursday, September 12 at 6:00 PM
Thursday, September 19 at 6:00 PM
Board of Education Hearings on the proposed school millage rate will take place as follows:
Wednesday, September 11 at 11:30 AM and again at 6:00 PM
Wednesday, September 18 at 4:30 PM
A called BOE meeting will follow at 5:15 PM on September 18 to finalize the Board’s recommendation.
Following the completion of these hearings, the City Council will vote to approve the final millage rates for both the city and the school system.
