Run-Off Election for Public Service Commission Set for July 15 in Walker County

SHARE NOW

Walker County voters will have one more opportunity to cast their ballots in the Democratic Special Primary for the Georgia Public Service Commission, as a run-off election has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 15.

Due to low voter turnout during the June primary—fewer than 1% of registered voters participated—Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-270[3]) mandates that only one polling location be open for the run-off. Voting will take place at the LaFayette Senior Center, located at 636 S. Main Street in LaFayette. This site corresponds with the precinct where the county courthouse is located, as outlined in the statute.

Early voting is already underway and will continue through Friday, July 11. Voters can cast their ballots between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Walker County Elections and Registration Office inside the courthouse.

The Public Service Commission plays a vital role in overseeing Georgia’s utilities, including electricity and natural gas, and decisions made by commissioners can have lasting impacts on energy policy and rates across the state.
