Walker County residents should prepare for the possibility of severe weather beginning late Friday night and continuing into Saturday.
According to forecasters, a line of strong to severe storms is expected to move into far northwest Georgia after midnight Friday, potentially impacting Walker County in the early morning hours of Saturday. While this initial round is likely to weaken as it moves eastward, residents are advised to stay alert.
A second round of storms could develop Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing another chance for hazardous weather. Although forecasters say there is still uncertainty about the severity and exact timing, damaging winds, large hail, and even a brief tornado cannot be ruled out if conditions become favorable.
Local emergency officials urge residents to monitor weather updates and have a safety plan in place.
