Tina Painter, was appointed to the Walker County School Board, to fill the vacancy left when Mike Carruth, a veteran member of the Walker County School Board, resigned on July 9, 2024.
From Tina Painter:
“It was an honor to be appointed to Post 3 of the Walker County Board of Education.
I will be on the November 5th General Election ballot. Every voter from south of Lafayette to the Tennessee state line can vote to allow me to continue to be a conservative voice for Walker County.
As a parent, retired educator, and taxpayer, I have the unique set of skills and experiences that allows me to bring to the board a perspective to navigate issues today, tomorrow and in the future.
Walker County is special, with a rich history and a bright future. The world has changed tremendously since my granddad served on the board of trustees of Walker County Schools in the 1930s. It is an honor to follow in his footsteps, I promise to:
*Champion top-quality education that equips our kids for future success.
*Amplify parents’ voices in their children’s education.
*Ensure every tax dollar is spent wisely and transparently.
Since my appointment, I have already been meeting with teachers, staff, parents, and students. I look forward to visiting all the schools in the district and listening to thoughts, ideas, and concerns.
On a personal note, I have been married for 40 years. I graduated from UTC with a BS degree in Secondary Math Education and started my teaching career in Walker County at LaFayette High School. After the birth of our son, I was a stay-at- home mom for five years. I went back into the classroom at Gordon Lee Middle School where I taught math for twenty-seven years. Since I retired, I have worked as a substitute, long-term substitute, and taught one year as a half-time teacher.
Contact me any me at [email protected] or call/text 706-866- 8888. Together, we can ensure a bright future for Walker County!
I’m here to serve and listen, and I would be honored to have your vote on November 5th.”
