The City of LaFayette is advising residents and visitors to expect temporary road closures this weekend as two major holiday events take place downtown.
Friday, December 5 — LaFayette Christmas Parade
The annual Christmas Parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday evening. To accommodate parade staging and route safety, Main Street will close at 4:30 p.m. from Margaret Street to S. Duke Street. The south end of Cherokee Street will also be closed during this time.
Duke Street will serve as the designated detour route for motorists.

Saturday, December 6 — Annual Reindeer Run
On Saturday morning, the Annual Reindeer Run will bring additional closures to the downtown area. Main Street will be shut down from Margaret Street to Grant Street, and Duke Street will be closed from South Main Street to Warthen Street. These closures will remain in place until approximately 10 a.m.
City officials encourage drivers to plan ahead, use caution in event zones, and allow extra travel time throughout the weekend.
