Voters Head to Polls Tuesday for Key Runoff Elections
Local voters will head to the polls this Tuesday to decide two important races that will impact both the region and the state.
The special runoff election will determine who will represent Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, filling the seat previously held by former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Voters will choose between Republican Clay Fuller and Democrat Shawn Harris, after neither candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the initial special election.
In addition to the congressional race, voters will also decide the Georgia State Senate District 53 seat.
Republican Lanny Thomas will face Democrat John Bentley “Jack” Zibluk in that runoff, which will determine the next state senator representing the district.
Polls will be open Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at precinct locations across Dade County.
Election officials remind voters to bring a valid photo ID and to report to their assigned polling location.
Officials say turnout on Election Day will play a key role in determining the outcome of both races.
Residents with questions about polling locations or voting requirements are encouraged to contact the Walker County Elections Office.
