The Walker County Animal Shelter is celebrating Valentine’s Day by encouraging residents to open their hearts and homes to a new pet through a special adoption event taking place this week.
The shelter’s Long-Term Commitment Adoption Event runs until Valentines Day and features significantly reduced adoption fees for dogs and cats of all ages.
During the event, adult pets aged 4 months and older may be adopted for $2. Puppies and kittens under 4 months old are available for a $14 adoption fee.
Shelter officials say the promotion is designed to help more animals find permanent homes while raising awareness about the responsibility involved in pet ownership.
The Walker County Animal Shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 5488 North Marble Top Road in Chickamauga.
