The Walker County Animal Shelter is making it easier for families to adopt a new furry companion with a limited-time puppy adoption special aimed at helping more animals find homes this spring.
Shelter officials announced that adoption fees for puppies under four months old will now be based on the puppy’s age in weeks. For example, a 12-week-old puppy can be adopted for $12, while a 14-week-old puppy would cost $14, with the fee increasing by one dollar for each additional week of age.
The reduced adoption fees still include a full package of services, including spay or neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations and wormer, and a microchip with registration. Shelter staff say the goal is to make adoption more affordable while ensuring each puppy goes home healthy and ready for a lifetime with its new family.
All available animals can be viewed on the shelter’s website or in person during open hours. The Walker County Animal Shelter will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those interested in meeting the puppies and other adoptable animals.
Officials encourage residents to take advantage of the special and consider adopting, especially as warmer weather makes it a great time to welcome a new pet into the family.
