Walker County Animal Shelter Offers Free Pet Vaccines Through 2026 Partnership with Petco Love

SHARE NOW

The Walker County Animal Shelter is continuing its partnership with Petco Love in 2026 to offer free core vaccinations for dogs and cats, helping local pet owners keep their animals healthy and protected.

Through the program, dog owners can receive free DHPP vaccines, while cat owners can receive free FVRCP vaccines. These core vaccines protect pets from serious and potentially deadly illnesses, including parvovirus, distemper and panleukopenia. Shelter officials say the vaccines are quick, easy to administer and available at no cost to the public.

In addition to vaccinations, the shelter is offering microchipping services for $10 per pet. The fee includes lifetime registration, providing a permanent form of identification that can significantly increase the chances of a lost pet being reunited with its owner.

The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Officials note that the Walker County Animal Shelter does not have a veterinarian on site, so vaccines such as rabies, leptospirosis and feline leukemia must be administered by a private veterinarian.

While the vaccines are provided free thanks to Petco Love, donations are welcome and accepted in cash, check or by card. Shelter staff encourage residents to take advantage of the program and help ensure Walker County pets remain safe, healthy and loved.
