Walker County Begins Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

SHARE NOW

Officials and community members from across Walker County convened in April to begin updating the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, a required review conducted every five years.

The planning process includes assessing local vulnerabilities, reviewing critical facilities, and developing project ideas aimed at reducing the impact of natural and manmade hazards. These hazards include tornadoes, severe storms, flooding, drought, wildfires, winter weather, earthquakes, dam failures, and hazardous materials spills.

The ultimate goal is to create targeted projects that help protect lives and property across Walker County.
