Walker County, GA – September 2025 – The Walker County Board of Commissioners has approved another historically low millage rate at their September meeting, marking the lowest property tax rate in the county since 2012.
Under the new rate, a homeowner in the unincorporated areas with a property valued at $250,000 will see a reduction of $17.34 in annual property taxes. Those living in incorporated areas will save approximately $37.44 annually in county maintenance and operations taxes.
The tax relief comes on the heels of a similar move by the Walker County Board of Education. Last week, the Board of Education adopted the full rollback millage rate of 14.418 mills, maintaining school-related property taxes at current levels despite rising property values. These coordinated actions by the county and school boards provide additional potential savings for property owners throughout Walker County.
Commissioners highlighted that the decision reflects a continued commitment to fiscal responsibility while providing tangible relief to taxpayers.
