The Walker County Board of Education will hold its regular session meeting on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Walker County Board of Education offices, located at 301 North Cherokee Street in LaFayette.
During the meeting, board members will hear reports from Superintendent Damon Raines, along with an update on district facilities. Several individual action items are also scheduled for consideration, including approval of the district’s financial report and discussion of proposed renovations at Gilbert Elementary School and Ridgeland High School. Planned improvements at Gilbert Elementary include HVAC and lighting upgrades, while a renovation proposal for Ridgeland High School will also be presented.
The board is expected to vote on a number of consent agenda items, including approval of minutes from meetings held on November 4, 11, and 17. Other consent items include a memorandum of agreement with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, approval of the FY2027 Family Connections Grant, and an amendment to an existing memorandum of understanding with Sandy Hook Promise.
Additional consent items involve school-related contracts, including an agreement with Nothing Bundt Cakes for North LaFayette Elementary School and a yearbook purchase agreement with Walsworth for Ridgeland High School for the 2027 fiscal year.
The agenda also includes time for public participation, an executive session if needed, and consideration of personnel recommendations before adjournment.
