Walker County Courthouse to Be Closed Monday Following Judicial Emergency Order

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. — The Walker County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, following an official order issued by Chief Superior Court Judge Brian M. House of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit.

The order declares a judicial emergency in response to severe winter weather affecting Northwest Georgia and follows Governor Brian Kemp’s statewide State of Emergency.

According to the order, the courthouse is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, January 27, 2026, weather permitting.

During the closure:

  • All civil and criminal court matters currently on the calendar are continued

  • Court deadlines, filing requirements, and time schedules in civil, criminal, and administrative matters are suspended, tolled, or extended through January 27, 2026, unless otherwise ordered by the court

The order applies to Superior Court, State Court, Magistrate Court, Probate Court, Juvenile Court, and Municipal Court within Walker County.

Court officials stated the closure is necessary due to conditions that substantially interfere with normal court operations and public access to the judicial system.

Residents with emergency court-related matters may contact the Chief Judge’s Office, Court Administrator, or the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, as outlined in the official order.
