Walker County Man Indicted for First-Degree Murder in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Walker County man has been indicted by a Hamilton County grand jury on charges of first-degree murder.

Nicholas Cheaton, 41, is accused in connection with a homicide that occurred on March 15, 2025.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:15 p.m. to a report of a shooting on the 3700 block of Youngstown Road. Upon arrival, they found a 44-year-old man who had died from an apparent gunshot wound.

Cheaton was formally indicted on June 5, 2025. He is currently being held in Walker County on unrelated charges.
