W. Keith Smith
“Sheriff Steve Wilson and the employees of the Walker County Sheriff’s Office are saddened to hear the passing of retired Deputy Sheriff, W. Keith Smith, on February 26th, 2025. Keith began his law enforcement career in 1972 with the Lafayette Police Department. In 1974, he joined the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, where he served under Sheriff Ralph Jones, Sheriff Mike Ellis, Sheriff Al Millard and Sheriff Steve Wilson. Keith held the rank of Deputy, Detective and Captain with the Sheriff’s Office.” -Walker County Sheriff Office
