The Walker County Planning Commission has released the agenda for its upcoming meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Walker County Civic Center, located at 10052 Highway 27 in Rock Spring.
According to the posted agenda, the meeting will begin with a call to order and roll call, followed by the reading and approval of minutes from the March 19, 2026 meeting. Commissioners will then open a public hearing to consider several zoning requests and a variance.
Under new business, the board will review two rezoning requests. The first comes from Richard Mountz, who is seeking to rezone property at 1412 Happy Valley Road in Rossville from C-1 (Commercial) to R-3 (Residential). The second request is from Alex and Janet Roach, who are asking to rezone property at 3791 Round Pond Road in LaFayette from A-1 (Agricultural) to RA (Residential/Agricultural).
In addition, a variance request will be considered from Krista Pharr, who is requesting approval for a parcel under five acres located at 159 Dusty Trail in LaFayette, currently zoned A-1 (Agricultural).
Following the public hearing, the commission will move to close the hearing and proceed into further discussion of new business before adjourning.
Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to stay informed and participate in local planning and zoning decisions.
