Walker County, GA – The Walker County School System has announced that all 15 schools in the district will continue offering free breakfast and lunch to students for the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative is made possible through the district’s ongoing participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal program managed through the Walker County School Nutrition Department.

As part of this program, every enrolled student will receive one breakfast and one lunch per school day at no cost to their families. The CEP eliminates the need for families to complete a free or reduced-price meal application, streamlining access to daily meals for all students regardless of income level.

Although meal applications will not be required, school officials note that a brief survey may be requested in place of the traditional paperwork.

Students who wish to purchase additional food items—such as extra milk, an additional entrée, or snacks—will still be required to pay for those items separately.

The district emphasized that this program not only ensures students are well-nourished and ready to learn, but also helps reduce the financial burden on families.

Walker County Schools remains committed to providing equal opportunities for all students and continues to uphold the standards of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s school nutrition guidelines.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
