Walker County officials are beginning the process of updating the county’s Joint Comprehensive Plan, as required under planning rules established by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The update is part of a full five-year review of the plan, which serves as a long-range guide for growth, development, and land use decisions across Walker County.
An initial public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Walker County Civic Center, located at 10052 North Highway 27 in Rock Spring. The hearing is intended to explain the comprehensive planning process and outline opportunities for public participation during the update.
County officials say the planning process is expected to take approximately one year to complete and will include additional opportunities for residents to provide input.
A copy of the current Walker County Joint Comprehensive Plan is available on the county’s website at walkercountyga.gov.
