Walker County’s unemployment rate edged up slightly in January, even as Georgia’s overall jobless rate remained steady compared to last year.
According to newly released labor data, Walker County posted a 3.4% unemployment rate in January. That marks a small increase from 3.1% in December and is also up from 3.1% recorded in January of 2025.
Statewide, Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate came in at 3.5% for January, roughly unchanged from January of last year.
The slight uptick in Walker County mirrors minor month-to-month fluctuations commonly seen at the start of the year, while the state’s steady rate suggests continued stability in Georgia’s labor market overall.
