[Walker County, GA] — Skaters, take note! The popular Wheels Park will close temporarily starting next week as construction on the city’s Greenway Park enters its final stretch.
Since its opening, the Wheels Park has been a favorite destination for the community, offering a safe and fun space for skating enthusiasts of all ages. City officials say they kept the park open as long as possible, but crews now need the area to complete the remaining construction safely.
Skaters are encouraged to enjoy the park this weekend before the temporary closure takes effect.
Once finished, the $2.2 million grant-funded Greenway Park will offer a wide range of recreational amenities, including:

Inclusive playground

The Wheels Park, along with the rest of Greenway Park, is expected to reopen in Summer 2026, creating an exciting new destination for children, teens, and families.
