Zibluk Suspends Campaign Activities as Lanny Thomas Recovers

NORTHWEST GEORGIA — Georgia State Senate District 53 candidate Jack Zibluk has announced he is suspending campaign activities following the recent medical emergency involving fellow candidate Lanny Thomas.

In a statement released this week, Zibluk said the decision comes as Thomas continues to recover from emergency surgery, noting the importance of allowing time for recovery while the community offers its support.

Zibluk said he will pause phone banking, canvassing efforts, and the release of new campaign materials until there is a clearer understanding of how to move forward with the race.

Thomas has indicated he intends to continue his campaign ahead of the April 7 runoff election, which will determine the next representative for Georgia’s 53rd State Senate District.

Zibluk described Thomas as a dedicated public servant and educator, expressing support for his recovery and stating he looks forward to continuing the campaign process once circumstances allow.

The announcement adds a unique development to the runoff race, as both candidates navigate the coming weeks leading up to Election Day.
