Alan Richard Philpot III, also known as Rick Philpot, age 70, of LaFayette passed away Monday, September 4, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan Richard Philpot II, and Mary Jane Roberts Philpot; and brother, Kurt Thiele.
He was a member of New Harvest Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Rick owned and operated DD Security for 15 years. He enjoyed coaching little league teams both in Pulaski, Tenn., and in LaFayette, Ga. He has been married to the love of his life, Deloris, for 31 and half years. They met when they were 11 and 14 years old. He loved his family dearly and never saw a “step” in stepchildren, and he loved them as his own.
Along with his wife, Deloris, he is survived by his children, Chris (Sherry) Philpot, Michelle Hutton, Steven (Kim) Woodard, Randy (Layla) Woodard, and Pepper (Patrick) Stanfield; grandchildren, Heaven Forney, Shaun Witt, Cheyenne Gustowski, Shane Witt, Tyler Hudson, Gage Burks, Tristian Malone, Ethan Oliver, Cade Philpot, Campbell Philpot, and Mary Jane Hutton; great grandchild, Koen Witt; siblings, Diane Roberts, Pat Baumgartner, Terry Philpot, Donna Clark, and Donn Philpot.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 8, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Brooks officiating.
Interment will be held at the AMI Cemetery in Menlo, Georgia.
Pallbearers are Steven Woodard, Shaun Witt, Patrick Stanfield, Randy Woodard, Shane Witt, and Bryan Deering.
Honorary pallbearers are the Walker County Transit drivers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
