Alec Monroe Long Sr.WHITWELL, TN

Alec Monroe Long, Sr., 71, of Whitwell, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. He was born to the late Joseph and Mildred Long in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Alec was a lifelong resident of the Whitwell and Chattanooga areas, where he attended Morning Star Baptist Church in Whitwell, Tennessee. Alec was one of our American Heroes. He honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps with distinction. He was a Marine! Alec always enjoyed going fishing and collecting Piggy Banks. He loved his dogs and enjoyed spoiling them. Alec dearly loved his three sons and his family. He was always the life of the party and treasured every moment spent with his family. Alec was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Alec is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred Lois Long; sister, Linda West; and brother, David Long.

Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons, Alec Monroe (Marcia) Long, Jr., of Whitwell, Tennessee, John William Long of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Joe Allen Long of Whitwell, Tennessee; brother, Billy Long of Kentucky; sister, Regina Posey of Johnson City, Tennessee; grandchildren, Hannah Powell, and Jazyiah “Jazzy” Long; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Alec. Friends and family are invited to join us on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. (EDT) and Monday, October 13, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.(EDT) The funeral service, a time to celebrate Alec’s life, will be held immediately after the visitation on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.(EDT) Following the service, we will proceed to the Tyner Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the burial.
