Alice Jewel Slayton, 89, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025. Alice was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee, to the late Hezekiah and Tiney Sue Lunsford. Alice was the wife of World War II Veteran Paul Fredrick Slayton, and they were lifelong residents of the Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia area. Alice enjoyed being a seamstress and could often be found working on something special for a family member or friend. She always loved having the family together for a big Christmas celebration. Alice enjoyed shopping at thrift stores and spending time with family and friends in the comfort of her home. Alice was a very loving, sweet, kind-hearted person and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Fredrick Slayton, Sr.; parents, Hezekiah and Tiney Sue Lunsford; son, Timothy Slayton; daughters, Reva Joe Slayton, and Emily Slayton; daughter-in-law, Sissy Slayton; and grandson, Freddy Slayton.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Pete Slayton of Rossville, Georgia, and Becky Beaty of Cleveland, Tennessee; brother, Frank Kenneth Lunsford; grandchildren, Matthew Slayton, Jessica Slayton, and Timothy Slayton; great-grandchildren, Brenna Jade Slayton, Alexis Jewel Slayton, Troy Christopher Slayton, Tyler Isaiah Slayton, Joshua Ryan McLemore, Hannah Frizzelle, Jacob Frizzelle, Isabella Dye, and Samuel Dye; nephews, Dennis Slayton, Kenny Slayton, and Kenneth Slayton, Jr.; and niece, Savannah Slayton.

A graveside service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time.
