Bernice “MeMaw” Goodson age 99, of Lakeview, Georgia went home to be with The Lord Tuesday morning, April 4, 2023.

She was born December 1, 1923 in Sweetwater, Texas to the late Robert (Bob) and Avice (Bill) Kearney Stephenson. She had resided most of her life in the Lakeview area. She was a graduate of LaFayette High School. She was a former dental assistant for Dr. Eakin and Dr. Radar She was a member of Woodstation Baptist Church in Catlett, Georgia.She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands: Murl Wimpee, Penn Ganam “Penny” Goodson, daughter and son-in-law: Murleene and Thomas Cleghorn, sister: Shirley Cantrell, brothers: J.N., Temple, Donald and Phillip Stephenson. She is survived by her grandsons: Dean (Jill) Cleghorn of Villanow, GA, Don (Josie) Cleghorn of Avon Park, FL, great-greatchildren: Aimee, Asa, Madalyn and Hartley Cleghorn, several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Destiny Moore, Lexie Holcomb and Tammy Burkette for their care and love they showed to MeMaw. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday – April 8, 2023 in the chapel with Pastors: Cliff Chambers and Rodney Blaylock officiating. Kipp, Michael, Larry, Phil, B.J. and Preston Stephenson will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make donations to American Diabetes Assoc. or American Cancer Society.
