Betty Lou Hickey Ashworth age 89, of Rock Spring, Georgia went home to be with The Lord Wednesday – June 7, 2023. She was born in Rossville, Georgia to the late James Alton and Ollie Mae Burke Hickey. She has resided in Loganville, Georgia for the past several years to be near her immediate family. She was a graduate of LaFayette High School – Class of 1951. She was a former L.P.N. and a former employee of Tri-County Hospital/Hutcheson Medical Center, Parkside Nursing Home in Fort Oglethorpe/Rossville, GA., Shepherd Hills in LaFayette, GA., and Home Health Services in the areas. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts and was a great cook. A couple of her favorite dishes to prepare: chicken’n dumplings and banana pudding. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Loganville for the past several years. She was the oldest of eight children and enjoyed keeping the family together through entertaining family gatherings. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Alvin Charles “A.C.” Ashworth, their daughter: Dianne Ashworth, her brothers: Bill and Luther Hickey, brothers-in-law: James Stancil and Butch Strickland. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Donna and Carlton Rice of Social Circle, GA, grandchildren: Nathaniel (Lindsay) Rice, Ashley Rice, Katie Rice, great-grandson: Alex Rice, sisters: Martha (Richard) Peterson of Rock Spring, GA, Carole (Jim) Hartman of Clermont, FL, Nancy Strickland of Franklin, TN, Connie Pendergraft of LaFayette, GA, brother: Bobby (Hilda) Hickey of Rome, TN, sister-in-law: Helen Wilbanks Hickey of LaFayette, GA, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon – Saturday – June 10, 2023 in the chapel with Pastor Robbie Jones officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Cemetery.
