Carol Lynn Sherwood Shaver Tate, age 79, of Rossville, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025. She was born in Arkansas City, Kansas, to the late Neal Eugene Sherwood and Edith Lorraine Hockenbury Sherwood. Carol had lived in the Rossville area for the past 50 years and was of the Baptist faith.
She retired from Bi-Lo in 2011 after more than 15 years of dedicated service. Carol loved spending time and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed fishing and a variety of crafts. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Duane Tate; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Shaver; brother, Neal Eugene Sherwood Jr.; and her former canine companion, “Peaches.”
She is survived by her devoted sons: Michael Lynn (Tammy) Shaver, Rob Jay Shaver, Chip Ray (Judy) Shaver, Jason Charles (Valerie) Tate, and David Lee (Michelle) Tate; grandchildren: Michael Shaver Jr, Kelley Ridley, Shania Shaver, Mistee Shaver, Corey Ray Shaver, Skylar Tate, Trinitee Johnson, Bryleigh Tate, and Chapman Dunn; stepmother, Judy Sherwood of Branson, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the funeral home parlor.
