Charles Laney, age 89, resident of Chickamauga, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at CHI Memorial Hospital, Chattanooga.
Mr. Laney, son of the late William Henry Laney and Minnie Annie Heaton Laney, was born August 25, 1935 in Montgomery, Alabama. After graduating from high school, he worked for over 18 years at Dan Rivers Inc, then he began working at Rossville Mills where he faithfully worked for over 22 years until he retired.
Mr. Laney enjoyed being at home, many times sitting on his porch swing. While inside, he would watched classic western television shows and also game shows. Sometimes he would also do word searches and listen to blue grass music. The family remembers him as a great father with a good nature.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Laney; two sisters, Irene Nix and Nettie Hooper; and two brothers, Roy Laney and Melvin Laney.
Mr. Laney is survived by one daughter, Charlotte (Rodger Poteet) Laney; one son, Gary (Margo) Laney; two grandsons, Josh Laney and Brad Bankston; two granddaughters, Melanie Clark and Marriell Fonolleras; three great grandchildren, Mason Bankston, Khloe Bankston, and Kenidee Bankston; many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled at LaFayette Memory Gardens on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Mike Angel officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home J. Avery Chapel, 215 Lee Avenue, Chickamauga, Georgia.
