
Daniel Uwe Thompson, age 35, of Rock Spring passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025.
He was a lifelong member of Peavine Baptist Church. Daniel’s life mission was to run the race well, pressing on toward the goal for the prize of the crown of life, where his focus was to give God the glory in everything he said and did. His kind soul blessed so many others within his reach. Daniel was a devoted and loving father and strived to be the best dad he could to his precious daughter, Ellie.
Daniel was born in Fort Oglethorpe in 1989. He was a 2007 graduate of LaFayette High School and obtained the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Daniel studied at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Biblical Studies in 2018.
He is survived by his daughter, Ellie Noelle Thompson; parents, Scott Thompson and Petra Thompson; brother, Manny (Katie) Thompson; grandmother, Ursula Knierim; nieces, Berkley and Brailee; nephew, Briggs; uncles, Maik Knierim, Travis Thompson, and Rex (Liz) Thompson; aunts, Evelyn Ellis, Elwyn (Sam) Newman, and Glenda (Larry) Sweat; and several cousins also survive.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at Peavine Baptist Church. His brother, Manny Thompson, along with Pastor Allen Deen Herndon and Pastor Patrick Cooper will officiate.
A private burial will take place at the family cemetery.
Pallbearers are Cliff Gilreath, Garrett Carlton, C.J. Cumbee, Justin Dixon, Isaac Smith, and Jesse Tatum.
Honorary pallbearers are Michael Herndon, Adam Morgan, and Preston Wigley.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 7, at the funeral home.
