Danny Joe Wilson, 70, of Rossville, Georgia, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Rossville on April 16th, 1954, the son of the late Henry Mac Wilson and Evelyn (Williams) Wilson. He was married to Janet Wilson in 1981, and they were blessed by their forty-four years together.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Wilson; his daughter, Jennifer (Wilson) Waltermyer; his son-in-law, David Waltermyer; his granddaughter, Makayla Waltermyer; and his sister, Sharon (Wilson) Hutcherson. He was preceded in death by his sister Judy (Wilson) Jones.

A lifetime resident of Rossville, Georgia, Danny enjoyed the classic car scene and could often be found at local car shows, tinkering on his latest project vehicles in his garage, or lending a helping hand to a friend or family member with their cars.

Danny will be remembered for his obsession with his family and his desire to help others. Even in his failing health in the months leading up to his passing, you would often find him (stubbornly) attending a football game to watch his granddaughter play in the high school marching band, assisting his son-in-law with projects around the house, or just being there for a friend or family member. Many will miss his sound advice, generosity, and friendship.
In his last days, his most frequent request was that friends and family would “go on a trip and have a celebration” in his memory.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday, March 5th, from 4 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 555 W Cloud Springs Rd, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742. A Celebration of Life service (also at Wilson Funeral Home) will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6th. After the Celebration of Life service, we will proceed to Lakewood Memorial Gardens - South, 325 Greens Lake Road, Rossville, Georgia for the committal service and burial. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memory of Rebekah Davis on behalf of Danny Wilson.
