Deborah Leeland Pierce Qualls, 82, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. She was born in West Virginia to the late Leeland Ralph and Golden Geneva Pierce. She lived most of her life in the Chattanooga-Northwest Georgia area and was of the Baptist Faith. Deborah was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who truly loved her family. Taking care of her family was her life. She enjoyed gardening and especially tending to her rose bushes. She named each one of her rose bushes after her grandchildren. Deborah loved to cook for her family and was the happiest with her family all around her. Deborah’s family’s love for her was deep and unwavering, and she will be greatly missed.
Deborah is preceded in death by her husband, James Mitchell Qualls; parents, Leeland Ralph Pierce and Golden Geneva Harmon Pierce; siblings, Jimmy Pierce, Patty Brown, Juanita Stokes, Gayle Link, Doug Pierce, Liddy Huskey, and Johnney Beth McDaniel; and step-daughter, Tessa O’Neal.
Those left to cherish her children, Julie (Ray) Cross of Rossville, Georgia, Jimmy (Brenda) Hughes of Ringgold, Georgia, Ronnie (Debra) Hughes of Ringgold, Georgia, Debbie (Tim) Ottinger of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Steve (Nicki) Hughes of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; step-children, Angie (Charles) Simms of Sand Mountain, Georgia, Tammy Gann of Rising Fawn, Georgia, Michelle Rheal of Jasper, Tennessee; sister, Cindy Black as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Deborah. Friends and family are invited to join us on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, February 21, 2025 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. The funeral service, a time to celebrate Deborah’s life, will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. Following the service, we will proceed to Lakewood Memory Gardens – South 325 Greens Lake Road, Rossville, Georgia, for the burial. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time.
