Dorothy Elaine Cope, age 72, of Ringgold, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Dorothy was born in LaFayette to the late Charles James Summey and Dorothy Dean Summey. A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, she was a devoted member of the Church of God faith and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
Dorothy exemplified grace, strength, and unwavering faith throughout her life. As a pastor’s wife, she served alongside her beloved husband with humility and dedication, setting a godly example for her family and community. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and steadfast spirit touched all who knew her. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Russell Leon Cope; her great-grandson, Sebastian Jax Williams; her sister, Linda Charles McKissick; and her brothers, Jimmy Lee Summey, Larry Thomas Summey, and James Talley Summey.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her loving husband of 31 years, Rev. Roy Lee Cope; her children, Kenneth Cordell Jr., Carl Daniel (Lindsey) Cordell, Roy Lee (Angela) Cope Jr., Lesley Jane (Joe) Thomason, and Danita Michell (Robbie) Kennedy; her siblings, Ted (Ann) Summey, Tim Summey, and Faye Combs; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Lamar Walker and Pastor Johnny Feagans officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.
