Eddy LaWayne Garner, 64, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025. He was born in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to Edward “Tib” and Marie Garner. LaWayne was a lifelong resident of the Northwest Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. LaWayne loved his community. He has served this community as an Emergency Medical Technician with several local ambulance companies and served in Law Enforcement with several agencies including the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. LaWayne graduated from Gordon Lee Memorial High School in 1979 and was a member of the Trojan’s Marching Band. He loved Georgia Bulldogs Football and watching them play. LaWayne volunteered with the Special Needs Rodeo and judged several of their events. He always enjoyed his beach trips to Disney with good friends, Suzanne Howard and Lex. LaWayne was a great friend to everyone who knew him and he dearly loved his family. LaWayne will be dearly missed by his community that he faithfully served, his loving family and all who knew him.

LaWayne is preceded in death by his father, Roy “Tib” Edward Garner; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Grafton Garner and Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Haney; and sister-in-law, Dena Garner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Daris Marie Garner of LaFayette, Georgia; brothers, Larry (Vicki) Garner of Rock Spring, Georgia, Barry (Jeanette) Garner of LaFayette, Georgia, and Michael Garner of Flintstone, Georgia; nieces, Erica, Karen and Lynn; and nephews, Kyle and Jason; good friends, Suzanne Howard and Lex and many other friends in the community.

The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor LaWayne. Friends and family are invited to join us on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for visitation. The funeral service, a time to celebrate LaWayne’s life, will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this difficult time.
