July 2, 1933 - May 24, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Edith C. Nance, age 91, of Chickamauga, announces her passing on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Canopy at Boynton Ridge Assisted Living-Memory Care. Edith was born on July 2, 1933, to the late Horace and Ethel Nance on Sand Mountain, AL.
A graduate of high school, Edith pursued secretarial courses before moving to Huntsville, AL in 1956, where she began her career at Redstone Arsenal. Over the years, she traveled the world, making lasting memories and friendships during her time there. Her professional achievements were matched only by her personal passions.
Edith was known for her love of gardening, thrifting, and her marvelous skills in the kitchen, where she delighted family and friends with her "old country" cooking. A faithful member of the Church of God, Edith attended congregations in Huntsville, AL, and East Ridge, TN. Her kindness, wisdom, and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, one sister, three brothers, nephew Carl Nance Jr., and great-nephew J.B. Nance, Edith leaves behind a loving family: nephews Mike (Georgia) Nance and Jim (Janet) Nance, both of Chickamauga; niece Dennie Jo Lanny Jones of Branford, FL; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins.
A private graveside service will be held, with a Celebration of Life planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Edith’s name.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tapestry Hospice nurse, Ashley & Taylor, and the dedicated staff at the Canopy at Boynton Ridge for their compassionate care during Edith’s final years.
Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home-J. Avery Bryan Chapel, Chickamauga.
